Money (with sync) App Reviews

After reading a lot of positive reviews (which looking back now seem suspect) I purchased this APP for 19.99. It looked like it was all everything I wanted. It does not work. The photos shown on the makers tutorial do not correspond to what is on the actual app. For instance, it refers to a tool area on the menu, on my version it is non existent. The graphics, menus and type of the main page overlap in places. I have written the softeware makers twice, no response, and have even complained to Apple, who allegedly reviewed this app before placing it on the app store, I have not heard back yet. If this were a $2 app, I would not waste the time to review it, but being that its $20 I want to make sure no one else makes the same mistake I did. I have the newest imac with the most up to date OSX, so this app should work. I have also deleted and reinstalled this app 3 times, it does not make a difference. If I get any response (or a refund) from the vendor on this, I will update this review, but for now, I would have to rank this as the worst experience I have had in the App store and I will be very careful about buying any additional costly apps from this location. There should be some sort of backstop if a customer buys an app that does not work, and then asks for support and does not get it. I am very disappointed.

Awful. Cant import a standard QFX file. Ive had the app for a day now and it cannot run for longer than 10 minutes without crashing. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS.

I fixed my iCloud syncing with this app. IT WAS HELL TO FIX! It updates and creates records from syncs on other devices. All the functions are similar to the tablet use, so I will try to enjoy seamless transition from iPhone to Mac.

I was really looking for the sync option so against my better judgement I purchased this, only to find that you have to manually enter all transactions. Really you can sync all your devices but you cant sync your financial instiitutions and accounts?!?! Waste of time and money.

Money/Bills Apps are awesome! A must buy! A few months ago I bought Money for all my devices (iPhone, iPad, MacBook and Mac Pro). I had used other apps but they never seems just right or the syncing was not there. With Money I can enter in a receipt on my iPhone and know that all my device will be in sync with each other without have to do any double entry. The iCloud integration is awesome. And all the apps look great on each device. I wish I could give more than the 5 Stars because this is well worth any price. Side Note: I use to use iCal to track all my reoccurring payments/bills, now i use the companion app Bills from the same developer as Money. Yes, I have Bills on all my devices and now I can sit down, enter all my bills or upcoming payments and know they will be on all my devices. The ONLY thing I would like to see changed or added is the ability to sync via iCloud, currently Bills syncs via DropBox. It’s not really an issue, but it does not automatically sync. If you enter something in, say the Desktop App, you have to open the app on each device and sync. So, please add iCloud syncing to Bills and you will have one heck of a killer combination. All in all, I have not had any issues with either app on any of my devices - both apps are very stable, function as expected and does all you need to do. Very powerful apps, but easy to use and the price is right. Money well spent. **** Hats off to the developers ****

I purchased this app erroneously, mistaking it for Money 4, so I was instantly disappointed that it would not automatically connect to my bank. But I looked at it and thought I could make it work since it supported downloads. After several hours of frustration, I discovered this app does not support importing QIF files (quicken) which is a pretty standard file format for financial records. It only supports OFX files, which my bank (and I suspect several others) do not export to. Needless to say, this app is going in the trash!

Cumbersome entry interface. unable to reconcile. really!! that just seems basic.

I bought it to use with mi iPad and Mac… It absolutely does not sinc via iCloud… support says to repeat and repeat the procedure until they sync, and if it does not then its because iCloud takes very long… but that does not happen with other apps… Its a bad app and, I suspect, a rip off...

I purchased this largely due to the new Direct Connect feature which doesnt work at all. I cant enter my financial institution information without the app freezing.

I was looking for an alternative to Quicken because I was having too many issues with Quicken. Direct Connect feature does not work at all. App will then freeze after I get a warning that Direct Connect did not work.

i really like this APP before, but everything changes after this stupid update. App freezes, rainbow wheels everytime i use it. FIX THEM PLEASE!!!

Love the app. Ive been using it for a couple years now. My previous reservation to giving it 5 stars was that I couldnt auto atically connecti it to my bank, so I gave it 4. With this new update, the program freezes when you try to even set up direct connect. I hope this issue is fixed quickly because I love this app and direct connect would make it that much better.

This has been about the 4th application I bought from this company and every time there is some problem. Either is company doesnt know how to meet demands or whatever, Im requesting my money back, because now my mac book states when i try opening the application, impossible to open with damage base Dude! What does that mean, personally at this point I dont care, Ive been with this application 2 months and everything was working fine and now it doesnt work for my mac book pro, Im done with this company! This is the last application i buy from these guys.

The application information for whats new in release 6.5 explains that direct connect is working, its clearly not. The application does not have the bank info even though its listed and when it fails the app crashes. I would like a refund.

I rarely rate applications, but this one was such a disappointment I had to chime in. I have used Quicken and iBank, and thought Id give this one a try since it stated it has Direct Connect for updates, and a iPhone/iPad app. Big mistake. The only transaction I have been able to manage in this app is the $20 iBear took from me. Here is the ugly result on my 2013 MB Air using Mountain Lion: 1. The app loads, looks pretty, and then promptly bogs down the processor with every attempt to use any feature. If I sit long enough, it will finally release the processor and I can try and take the next step, only to sit for another minute of a locked up screen until I final have had enough and force it to quit. 2. No real help on getting the app set up. One page of vague directions on their website is not a help. 3. The "help" says the app can use QFX to import, but the menu only allows OFX. I tried importing a QFX file. Nada, Nicht, Nothing. 4. The "Direct Connect" feature is arcane. I did manage it to see my AMEX account after figuring out how to add a credit card or bank, but again, it locked up hard. It could not connect to two other banks I use that is in their list. I got a constant "wrong user/password" error, and (you guessed it) promptly froze the app. This app gets one star, becasue I cant give zero. I am experienced in financial apps, and this one is not worth the "Money", time, or frustration.

If you want a nice app that will link to your accounts, then this isnt the app for you. I have tried 10 times to connect to my bank account. I know my username. I know my password. But apparently, this app cant connect. It then freezes up after EVERY attempt. If I wanted a checkbook that requires me to visit my banks webpage, download the file and then manually import it, then I might as well use Excel. I want my money back.

Total waste of Money. I cant download any data - I get an error message. Then the whole program froze. I had to reboot my computer completely just to exit out of the program.

This app does not work for me or for syncing with bank. I want my money back. So very disappointed.

was a quicken user until i came to Apple…. now cant find a replacement for the program… wont sync to my online banking… cant get reports to work… have been using it for 3 months trying to get it to work and finally going to bow out and try to find another program!!! it did sync across my desktop, laptop, and iPhone… only you have to open the program and click on the balance button for the phone to “see” you paid the bills on the desktop…. dont waste your money…

This app does just what I hoped it would do. I started using the iPad and iPhone versions for a few days and got this app so I could do the same on my computer. I enjoy the budgeting graphs and the speed at which it syncs with iCloud (the previous product I used was very slow.)
